- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪Travelers Beware I stopped in to have a crown recemented. Pretty straightforward and I felt pretty good about the work done. Once the bill arrived, I found that Dr. McMahan had added an extra line item that seemed aimed at insurance companies, implying that he had put significant work into rebuilding the tooth, possibly even inserting posts. This was, in fact, a $260 tube of cement. A sample he brought back from a class, of a substance he had never used before. Curing time: 5 minutes. When I asked about this, he refused to remove it from the bill, instead removing the entire cost of 'recementing the crown' - $109. I paid more than double the normal cost because of this tube of cement, which Dr. McMahan neglected to tell me would cost anything extra, or even imply that it was an extraordinary procedure. Had I not argued the bill, I would have paid triple the normal cost. My advice: If no one else can get you in, ask how much the work will cost or this 'friendly old guy' will rip you off and then complain to you about how much he pays his office staff ($27/hour).July 30, 2017by Hitek Homeless
